My simple Moto Razor flip phone with the pre-paid pay-per-minute plan does work internationally as I was able to call back to the US from France last year. Its $1.50 per minute but I only need it for emergencies so the plan is fine. When I called last year I dialed 00 which is the "exit" code for France and then 1 which is the country code for US and then area code and phone number. So in this case my roaming phone was being treated as if it were a French phone number.
But my question is how would some one call me from either US or France. I assume someone from the US calling me would just dial as if I were in the US, but would someone from France call me with 00-1 (as if I was in the US) or 00-33 (since I'm in France) or would country codes not be needed at all and if so would they just dial my area code and phone number? Also how would I dial a local number in France? Do I just dial it as if my phone were a French number or do I need the 00-33 country codes? I'm very confused.
Another question. On this year's trip while I'm in France I'll need to call another number which is a different US cell phone roaming in France. So how does a US cell phone (mine) roaming in France call another US cell phone also roaming in France? Even more confused!!
Thanks,
Gerry
